A mother of three and school board member in Hudson, Karyn knows that public schools are essential to building a strong middle class and highly skilled workforce. Finn and her husband Kevin have three children; their eldest attends Iowa State University and their two youngest attend Hudson High School.

Finn stresses that higher education should be affordable anc accessible so that every student has an opportunity to continue their education after high school. She has been working in early childhood and healthcare services for over 20 years.

Finn, who coordinated Kindergym and has worked with the Youth Fitness and Obesity Institute at the University of Northern Iowa, currently works on contract while she earns her master’s degree in Community Health Education at UNI.

She also stresses the importance of family in her statement announcing the bid.

“My father owned his own business, along with my grandfather. The family business taught me the value of hard work, early mornings and long days to provide for your family. I also learned that you have to earn the respect and trust of neighbors, community leaders, and those you serve."

Finn grew up in New Orleans, and her grandparents emigrated from Mexico. If elected, she will become the first Hispanic to serve in the Iowa Legislature.
